CINDERELLA
Wife of a rich man dies, leaving behind one daughter
Cinderella goes to Mother's grave every day and wept while Father marries another Wife with 2 daughters
Step-mom starts treating Cinderella like their indentured servant and have her cater to their every whim (earning her name for being dusty all the time)
Father brings back a branch for Cinderella (thoughtful) which she took to Mother's grave and planted
The tree grew with Cinderella's tears and prayers and a white bird brought her whatever she wished for
King orders a festival that lasts three days so Prince may choose a bride
Step-mom and Stepsisters taunt Cinderella as they prepare and leave for the festival, telling her to pick up all the lentils knocked over in the fireplace
Cinderella calls for her bird friends and they clean everything, but Step-mom still refuses to let Cinderella come
Cinderella weeps at Mother's grave and birds bring her a fine dress and off she goes to the festival
Prince and Cinderella dance the entire night, but Cinderella escapes at end of the night, returning home
Second night of the festival repeats the events of the first, ending with Cinderella escaping home
Third night of the festival repeats the events of the first, but when Cinderella tries escaping, gets caught in pitch (tar) all over the staircase and loses one of her slippers
Prince begins searching for maiden who fit into the slipper
First stepsister tries it on but it doesn't fit, so Mother cuts off her big toe and the Prince is not impressed
Second stepsister tries it on but it doesn't fit, so Mother cuts off her heel and the Prince is not impressed
Prince calls for the "kitchen wench" and Cinderella appears to try on the slipper, which fits
Prince and Cinderella are married, and the eyes of the stepsisters are pecked out by birds
Happily ever after.
JACK & THE BEANSTALK
Poor widow and son Jack are selling their only cow, except Jack ends up selling it for five magic beans, not money
Mother was very upset and threw the beans out the window
Jack finds huge beanstalk outside the next day and decides to climb it, finding a kingdom in the sky where a giant lived
Giant's Wife gives Jack something to eat and drink when the Giant came home
Giant smelled Jack, but Wife denies so Giant starts counting his gold after dinner
Jack steals one sack of gold coins and climbs back down, giving them to his all-of-a-sudden very appreciate Mother
Jack climbed up the next day and got more food, and Giant came home and Wife denies a boy being there
Jack sees the Giant command a hen to lay a golden egg, so he steals it and goes home to his happy Mother
Jack goes up the next day and gets more food when the Giant comes home
Jack decides to steal a magic harp, but the harp cried out that he was being stolen and woke the Giant up
Giant chases Jack, but Jack is too fast and reaches homes and gets an axe to chop down the beanstalk
Giant falls and dies, and Jack and Mother are very rich now
Happily ever after.
LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD
Little Red is taking a basket of treats to her grandmother, who is sick in bed
Mother tells the girl to behave and follow the rules she gives
Little Red goes into the woods and meets a wolf, who asks her where she is going
Wolf decides he will follow Little Red to her grandmother's so he can eat both of them
Wolf distracts Little Red along the path and tells her to pick some flowers for Grandmother while he sneaks off and eats Grandmother
Wolf dresses in Grandmother's clothing and Little Red arrives with a strange feeling that something is wrong
Little Red comments on the size of her "Granny's" features before Wolf eats Little Red whole
Huntsman is passing by and finds Wolf in the bed asleep
Huntsman realizes that Wolf might have eaten somebody, so he cuts open the stomach of Wolf and Little Red and Grandmother spring free and alive
All filled Wolf with heavy stones in his belly and left him for dead
Happily ever after.
RAPUNZEL
Husband and Wife want to have child, but can't
Wife wants to eat some of the nice rampion (a type of root, yum) from the garden of the enchantress, so her husband steals some
Enchantress gets even with the couple by taking their first-born child, named Rapunzel (the German word for rampion)
Rapunzel is locked away in tower where only entrance is to climb her hair
Prince comes riding by and hears Rapunzel singing and imitates the enchantress by calling up
Prince asks Rapunzel to marry him, she says sure, beats this tower
Enchantress finds out about the Prince and cuts all of Rapunzel's hair off
Prince returns and is tricked by the Enchantress, ending up falling down into thorns under the tower that caused blindness
Prince wandered for years until finding Rapunzel again in the desert
Rapunzel weeps over Prince and her tears heal his sight
Happily ever after.
